Destiny moved with her family to the US in 1986. Her father owned a tire shop. Her mom was a teacher. She showed interest in healthcare since childhood. She is the oldest of six children. All male.
She wanted to be a doctor but settled for nursing school for financial reasons. She worked at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica. It was her birthday when cases of Romero Virus began to flood the hospital in 2023. That was the last day she spoke to her family.
After Romero Day, she brought her cat Fleas Whiterspoon to the hospital because driving home became too dangerous. She was part of the staff that refused government orders to evacuate and abandon patients. By the end of the week, they were all Zombies or dead anyway.
Latin Empire gang members kidnapped her to help their leader, Flacco, after he was injured by an explosion. Destiny amputated Flacco’s left hand and enucleated his left eye to save his life. She helped Flacco recover and he adopted Fleas as the gang mascot.
She hated the gang but stayed for her safety. She received weapons training and became a trusted soldier, but refused to help anyone else, arguing she was just an orderly that got lucky with Flacco.
