resourceful, lonely, pessimistic.
Hates cats
Jaime is the only son of farmers who moved from San Diego to Central Valley in 2004. Jaime hated rural life, and he resented his family for moving out of the city. Classmates bullied him in school.
He watched "Alien" with his dad while still a kid and blew a gasket when Ripley returned for her cat, Jonesy, during the film’s climax. His dad belittled his immaturity and lack of compassion, and Jaime developed a lifelong hatred for cats and people who likes them.
He left for LA after high school and worked in retail until landing a building management gig in 2021. He became a recluse who allowed no families or cats in his building. When the Romero Virus hit LA in 2023, he refused evacuation and stayed in his apartment.
Jaime sticks his neck out for no one and uses a multi-layered duct tape suit to protect himself while scavenging or hunting urban game. The suit looks ridiculous but has saved his life multiple times. He also built a barricade in his backyard to keep Zombies and the gangs that control the city out of his life.
The barricade is flimsy, and zombies keep pushing on it. It symbolizes Jaime’s self-imposed and fragile isolation. Soon he’ll learn the real demons are not outside his backyard but within himself.
